There is only one requirement for baptism in the body of Christ: being a believer in Christ.
However, the local assembly is God’s way of providing a family environment for all His children. He uses it to nurture and train them up in service.
Therefore, the local assembly should be appropriately organised and decently ordered with a proper procedure. The pastor provides pastoral care for members of every local assembly. Apart from being born again, every local assembly determines the other criteria necessary for membership.
She also determines how the commitment of her members is to be measured.
Water baptism is one significant way we measure the commitment of the brethren of Christ Embassy. It was the primary criterion for measuring commitment to Christ in the early church.
To qualify for water baptism at Christ Embassy, the following prerequisites must be met:
a. The candidate must be born again.
b. He/she must have commenced Foundation school.
c. He/She must have attended our church services at least four times.
d. He/She must have joined the cell system.
e. He/She must have attended the baptismal classes and passed the written or oral examination.
NOTE:
1. The first class of baptismal courses aims to engage those not involved in the cell system, getting them involved in the cell ministry to qualify for baptism.
2. Usually, a baptismal certificate is issued to all candidates after the baptism, either at the venue or at a later date.
3. Those who have been baptised in other new creation churches after being born again, do not have to be baptised again in Christ Embassy, provided that;
They provide from their former church a certificate of baptism or other substantial proof of baptism.
These proofs have been verified, and confirmation has been received from other churches.
